SANDY SPRINGS
Sandy Springs is a city in northern Fulton County, Georgia, United States, and part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, Sandy Springs had a population of 93,853, and its 2017 estimated population was 106,739.
MIDTOWN
Midtown is a busy commercial area and a vibrant arts hub. The High Museum of Art shows world-renowned works in a striking modern building, while Margaret Mitchell House offers tours of the former home of the “Gone With the Wind” author. Peachtree Street is a hotspot for comedy, bars and big-name shops, with eating options ranging from street food to fine dining. Large, leafy Piedmont Park offers walking trails.
MARIETTA
Marietta is a city northwest of Atlanta, in Georgia. Near leafy Marietta Square, an 1845 former cotton warehouse houses the Marietta Museum of History. Exhibits there focus on local history. The Gone with the Wind Museum, nearby, celebrates the film and the Margaret Mitchell novel. Northwest, trails lace Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, site of an 1864 Civil War battle.
GRANT PARK
Grant Park is a residential district, known for its Victorian mansions and Craftsman bungalows. Its namesake park is laced with walking trails and home to Zoo Atlanta, with popular panda and tiger exhibits. Nearby Oakland Cemetery has ornate monuments and the graves of notable Atlantans, like “Gone With the Wind” writer Margaret Mitchell. Young locals gather on Memorial Drive for Tex Mex, noodles and pub fare.
DUNWOODY
Dunwoody is a city located in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. As a northern suburb of Atlanta, Dunwoody was incorporated as a city on December 1, 2008 but its area establishment dates back to the early 1830s. As of 2018, the city has a population of 49,459, up from 46,267 in the 2010 Census.
DECATUR
Decatur is a city in Georgia, northeast of Atlanta. In the Old Courthouse, the DeKalb History Center’s museum traces local history through furniture and Civil War artifacts. Outside is a sculpture of Thomas Jefferson. Woodlands Garden offers tree-lined trails and native plants. To the northwest, Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum houses ancient art and artifacts from Egypt, Greece, Rome and Asia.
BUCKHEAD
Stylish Buckhead is known for its upscale malls and the independent art galleries that cluster around Miami Circle and Bennett Street. Chicly dressed locals frequent the trendy restaurants along Peachtree Road and Roswell Road, while twenty-somethings hang out at lively bars and clubs. Regional history is on display at the Greek Revival-style Governor’s Mansion and at the Atlanta History Center.
BROOKHAVEN
Brookhaven is a city in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta and is located in western DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, directly northeast of Atlanta. On July 31, 2012, Brookhaven was approved in a referendum to become DeKalb County’s 11th city.
